Refugees Welcome Schools

St Gabriel’s College, Lambeth – our first Refugee Welcome School.

Welcoming and caring for children and young people as soon as they arrive is an extremely important part of the resettlement. To this end we’d like as many schools as possible to sign up to become refugees welcome schools. This means making a commitment to plan and perform the following:

  • Prepare local students for the arrival of refugees
  • Make arriving children feel welcome and make integration as easy as possible with targeted English language programmes
  • Engage with the community to promote resettlement
